Summary
The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is seeking a strong administrative leader for the Division of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Research. Partnering with the Division Chief, this person will lead the Division in strategic planning, budgeting and financial management, and supervise the mission leaders within the division.
This position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus and a hybrid work arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area.
Job Duties
- Direct the daily operation of multiple sections including, but not limited to, areas of human resources, compliance and financial management.
- Manage multiple teams led by managers and professionals, to include defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
- Oversee financial management and accountability of multiple functions, to include budget administration, performing cost assessments, monitoring financial transactions, and financial reporting. Make strategic decisions based on the financial data.
- Develop staffing plans and productivity guidelines according to budget availability and department/unit needs.
- Develop and implement successful strategies for revenue growth and expense control.
- Negotiate and implement the human resources activities for the section, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
- Create strategic partnerships to develop synergy between technology and business practices.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Eleven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree and seven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience will also be considered.
- History of progressively increasing responsibilities particularly in managing large financial portfolios and personnel management.
Other
- Candidates will be required to complete an Excel proficiency test.
- Candidates will have a working interview to demonstrate knowledge of financial and research administration.
