Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline. 3 years of experience as an internal auditor working on progressively more complex projects, demonstrating proficiency in performing project planning; identifying associated risks and compensating controls; writing and executing audit programs; performing data analysis; identifying operating effectiveness and efficiency improvements; communicating issues to various levels of administration; and effectively negotiating corrective action plans. Professional certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or obtain within 6 months of hire. Grade 8 (Salaried).Position Description:
The Auditor III is a senior level position that will lead internal auditor on complex internal audit projects or investigations. Acts as a consultant to administration in regard to strategic initiatives and projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for planning audit projects, identifying business risks and the significance to the achievement of business objectives and strategic goals, assessing the internal control environment, determining the scope of work performed, and designing and executing audit programs.
Identifying key internal controls and internal control weaknesses.
Performing data analysis to identify irregularities, draw conclusions, and support decision-making.
Identifying improvements in operating effectiveness and efficiency.
Conducting audits in accordance with professional and departmental standards.
Communicating audit results verbally and in written format to various levels of administration.
Negotiating acceptable corrective actions and following up with administration to ensure the actions have been implemented.
Preferred Qualifications
Internal audit experience in higher education.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
3+ years of experience using Microsoft Office products, specifically VISIO and Excel.
3+ years of experience with audit work paper organization concepts and software (TeamMate, AuditBoard, or similar products).
Experience auditing sponsored research, grants, and contracts.
Proficiency using database analytic software such as ACL, IDEA, or similar product for data mining.
