The Clinical Practice Educator is a registered nurse who has acquired knowledge and clinical expertise that enable her/him to practice surgical nursing with judgment and clinical expertise. The Clinical Educator may function as a clinician & educator. They are responsible for assessing educational needs; planning and implementing staff development activities; evaluating the effectiveness of those activities for staff working in the peri-operative and procedural settings.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Ensures that employees provide service that are accurate, reliable, courteous, and timely.
  • Assess staff competence appropriate to their role and function.
  • Ensures the delivery of quality care consistent with the scope of practice of the discipline.
  • Promotes timely, comprehensive education to staff and documentation of progress towards achievement of outcomes.
  • Ensures that all professional and regulatory standards are met and maintained.
  • Effectively communicates with all customers/team members to meet organizational goals and customer service expectations.
  • Maintains current knowledge, skills, and competencies through involvement in professional continuing education activities.
  • Coordinates continuing education workshops.
  • Provides a competency-based orientation program for all categories of nursing service personnel.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Three years of experience in the operating room. One (1) year in education preferred.
  • Current registered nurse license.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • CNOR certification is highly preferred.
  • OCN and/or AOCN certification is highly preferred.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $67.08 - $97.27 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
