The Sr. Manager, Food Service Operations provides supervision for food services at City of Hope. Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff. Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support customer satisfaction and City of Hope food service operations.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Directs daily operations of food service operations to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.
- Oversees the preparation, portioning, garnishing, presentation and safe storage of food.
- Ensures that kitchen, equipment, storage facilities and dining room are sanitary, neat and organized.
- Executes strategic plan by implementing short and long-term goals that align with the scope of service, mission and values.
- Directs the Chef de Cuisine to maintain the kitchen and storage facilities to meet/exceed sanitary conditions; monitors internal quality assurance and food safety audit process (including HACCP record keeping).
- Maintains and implements sanitary and food safety conditions and training to adhere to auditing procedures and statutory regulations.
- Establishes a safe work environment for employees by performing safety audits and inspections, conducting safety-related training, and maintaining on-going communications with employees.
- Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards.
- Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
- Ensures that employees demonstrate an active customer hospitality orientation toward customers and clients.
- Manages the budget by controlling costs (e.g. labor, inventory, equipment, materials), complying with budget requirements and making adjustments when necessary.
- Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues.
- Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to employees.
- Prepares and updates statistical reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and policies and procedures.
- Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with City of Hope safety and loss prevention programs and with standards.
- Handle escalations and issues, providing updates to the director as necessary.
- Monitor the development and execution of inpatient menus, ensuring they complement patient dietary needs and preferences.
Your qualifications should include:
Minimum Education:
- Associate’s degree; 2 additional years of experience plus the minimum experience requirement may substitute for minimum education.
Minimum Experience:
- 5 years of related work experience plus 3 years of lead or supervisory experience.
Req. Certification/Licensure:
- Certified Dietary Manager
- Serv-Safe certification

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $44.97 - $75.10 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
