Provide support to Cardinal Central; coordinate and implement programs that support student persistence, provide oversight of two graduate assistant, provide individual support for 21st Century Scholars, and represent Cardinal Central at events or in processes.
Ball State University welcomes applications for our 21st Century Scholar Success Coach position. This 21st Century Scholar Success Coach position is grant-funded through the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE). The grant is funded through December 2025.
Job Function:
Provide support to Cardinal Central; coordinate and implement programs that support student persistence, provide oversight of two graduate assistant, provide individual support for 21st Century Scholars, and represent Cardinal Central at events or in processes.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Education:
Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in education administration, college student personnel or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience:
One year of higher ed experience preferably in retention, student success, academic advising or related including graduate assistantship.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with intervention strategies for at-risk students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, plan and implement programs and services that support the persistence and achievement of 21st Century Scholars.
- Supervise a Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education (SAAHE) Graduate Assistant who will work with first year scholars.
- Serve as a coach and mentor to students at risk to aid in their development of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs they need to succeed in college and their careers.
- Initiate collaboration with the Career Center on career and post-graduation programs and services.
- Collect and compile data on retention and persistence of 21st Century Scholars.
- Utilize and maintain proficiency in a variety of programs and software; that may include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Windows, Self Service Banner, Argos, EAB Navigate and Salesforce.
- Represent Cardinal Central at Preview Days, new student orientation, and other functions as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Serve as a resource and referral agent for students at risk of persistence. Work in collaboration with Academic Advising to provide appropriate guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the 21st Century Scholar Graduate Assistants on programming in collaboration with the ScholarCore student organization.
