The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Louisville seeks a collaborative and experienced academic leader to serve as the Professor (Term, Open Rank) and Assistant/Associate Dean - Community Engagement and Global Learning This role will lead strategic implementation of the college’s Community Engagement Plan and oversee the Global Learning Office.
The College of Education and Human Development is one of twelve schools/colleges at the University of Louisville. The CEHD has five academic departments: Counseling and Human Development; Educational Leadership, Evaluation or Organizational Development; Elementary, Middle & Secondary Teacher Education; Health and Sport Sciences; and Special Education, Early Childhood, & Prevention Science. The CEHD supports more than 2800 students pursuing undergraduate, master’s or doctoral degrees in more than 30 degree program areas. The CEHD also supports 5 research centers and the Early Learning Campus at UofL.

Position Summary
The College of Education and Human Development (“CEHD”) seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Assistant/Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Global Learning. This is a full-time, 12-month (non-tenurable) faculty position that reports directly to the Dean. The position is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”) and the Academic Leadership Team (“ALT”), and supervises community engagement liaison and global learning efforts. This position will work closely with the University Office for Community Engagement, the Office for Institutional Equity, the International Center, and academic, administrative, and community partners.

The ideal candidate must have a strong demonstrated record of developing meaningful community partnerships, community and international engagement, and international learning experiences. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and build meaningful relationships across multiple constituencies. In addition, the ideal candidate should possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas:
Leadership:
Lead strategic planning, implementation, and assessment of engagement and global/international initiatives.
Develop, implement, and support activities and programs that foster belonging for all students, staff, and faculty.
Advise Personnel Committee on attending to community engaged scholarship in criteria for promotion and tenure.
Serve as the College representative on the University Diversity Council.
Serve as ex-officio on the College Diversity Committee.
Function as a member of the College’s Senior Leadership Team and Academic Leadership Team.
Inform policies and practices that enhance inclusion and belonging.
International Engagement and Global Learning:
Provide oversight and leadership regarding CEHD global learning programs, including student and faculty exchanges, study abroad programs, and partnerships with global institutions.
Collaborate with academic units to integrate global learning experiences into curricula, fostering a cross-cultural and international perspective.
Program Development and Assessment:
Develop and assess college-level infrastructure to support and increase participation in the Fulbright program.
Support development, implementation, and understanding of community engaged scholarship practices to support faculty promotion and tenure.
Develop, support, and assess programs that increase sense of belonging for CEHD students, staff, and faculty, particularly those who are underrepresented.
Supervision:
Supervise CEHD Global Learning Program and job-related faculty and staff, providing guidance and support for professional development and program execution.
Provide strategic oversight for the CEHD Community Engagement Liaison efforts with the University Office for Community Engagement
Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Doctoral degree (Ph.D, Ed.D, J.D.). The candidate must possess a terminal degree and academic credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor in one of the College’s departments: Counseling and Human Development; Educational Leadership, Evaluation or Organizational Development; Elementary, Middle & Secondary Teacher Education; Health and Sport Sciences; and Special Education, Early Childhood, & Prevention Science.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral/Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D.) in higher education administration, international education, and/or counseling.
5-10 years of experience working with global institutions and managing international programs.
Evidence of a community-engaged research/scholarship agenda and scholarly products.
Demonstrated experience with community relations and capacity-building, particularly with diverse groups and organizations.
Experienced leader in inclusion and belonging efforts in higher education.
Demonstrated success in responsible and culturally competent international program development and engagement.
Strong understanding of and commitment to community engagement and public scholarship.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Salary: Competitive, based upon qualifications and experience
Appointment: 12-month
