Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise and consult with leaders as necessary in the development and management of budgets for University Schools, communicate budget information and resolve issues.
- Review and approve requests that require budget approval (i.e. new positions, hiring proposals, major purchases, etc.) and move them through the university systems for approval.
- Prepare financial reports, projections and analyses for University Schools and College Leadership quarterly or as needed.
- Advise University Schools leadership as to the status of budgetary accounts.
- Provide support for University Schools as needed, including, but not limited to, review and approval of payment requests, purchase orders, travel authorizations and related payment requests, personnel action requests, position modifications and Foundation payment requests.
- Provide primary budgetary support, financial analysis, monthly reporting, and identify variances between actual and budgeted financial results at the end of each reporting period.
- Support end users of financial software with basic navigation and completion of annual budgets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of budget submissions
- Prepare bi-annual financial reporting for Burris and Indiana Academy as required by the Indiana Department of Education; remain current on reporting requirements; update accounting crosswalk based on IDOE chart of accounts as necessary; review completed reporting documents; work with school personnel and IDOE.
- Communicate to Burris/Indiana Academic each time IDOE issues a new chart of accounts.
- Submit IT Helpdesk ticket each month to run the crosswalk report and then update accounting crosswalk information in Banner.
- Review IDOE information related to Form 9.
- Review reporting for the National School Lunch Program.
- Receive payments for the schools and calculate breakdown for grant distribution spreadsheet.
- In collaboration with SPA, analyze all facets of research proposals for feasibility, including cost sharing, indirect costs applications, funding for graduate assistants (stipends and remission), benefits, etc., and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Recommend and implement techniques to improve procedures and practices and increase efficiency across all areas when applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Assist College Director of Budget and Resource Planning as needed.
