City of Hope is in search of a Research Associate II to join a new and growing translational research laboratory focused on understanding the determinants of response and resistance to immune-based therapies in lymphoid malignancies. The Research Associate II will play a critical hands-on role in executing experiments, supporting ongoing projects, and contributing to a collaborative, high-impact research environment.

Our research centers on cutting-edge multimodal cell-free DNA (cfDNA) profiling to identify molecular determinants of treatment response, and on leveraging patient samples and preclinical models to understand how these factors shape the tumor microenvironment and drive therapeutic resistance.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows (DNA extraction, library prep, quality control, data handoff).
  • Perform NGS sequencing data analysis.
  • Conduct molecular and cellular assays and assist with flow cytometry, cell culture, and immune profiling of mouse and human samples.
  • Maintain accurate lab records, perform data analysis, and help prepare figures and publications.
  • Assist with day-to-day lab operations, including preparation of reagents, maintenance of mouse colonies, and management of laboratory supplies and inventory.
  • Ensure that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with established safety procedures for handling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous, infectious, and toxic materials.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years related research/ laboratory experience with a Bachelor’s degree or one year related research/ laboratory experience with a Master’s degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred in Computational Biology, Cancer Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • At least two years related research/ laboratory experience.
  • Experience with NGS sequencing workflows and genomic data analysis.
  • Bioinformatics/computational experience.
  • Exceptional managerial and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated, and work well independently and in a team.
