Position Description
The Assistant Director of Master's Finances reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Education and is the senior and experienced finance professional responsible for managing the financial operations for a growing portfolio of HMS Master's Programs and the Office for Graduate Education (OGE) administrative finances supporting the master's. This position will oversee all aspects of financial operations to support the strategy and mission, ensure compliance and effectiveness, and develop, evaluate, and evolve structures and policies to meet the needs of OGE.
The Assistant Director of Master's Finances in the Office for Graduate Education is responsible for developing, modeling, and advising OGE leadership on financial strategy and overseeing all aspects of the master's programs' financial operations. This includes budget preparation and oversight, annual, and multiyear planning and forecasting, providing analysis to inform business operations and new business strategy, and reporting. The position also conducts financial modeling and analysis to inform new business to business strategy and to provide financial guidance to efficiently support the master's programs and their growth. This finance leader is both responsible for financial operations management and high level strategic planning. This also includes developing budget standards, educating colleagues in the master's programs on budget processes and best-practices, developing new resources for budget management and oversight, and supports an entrepreneurial culture of continuous improvement. This position is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and educating and communicating with key stakeholders, program and OGE leadership, and ensuring compliance with all university policies.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently with large sets of data,
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver exceptional customer service,
• Clear communicator who is able to effectively educate statekholders on financial operations and management.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize critical requests in a fast-paced environment
• Works independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision
• Grants experience preferred but not required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office suite applications

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
