The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior, in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, as a qualified Psychiatrist boarded in Addiction Medicine. Our outpatient clinic is located in Augusta, Georgia on our Health Sciences Campus. This qualified faculty member would be participating in the tripartite mission of research, clinical service, and education; working with medical students, psychology interns (APA Accredited), psychiatry residents (ACGME), and addiction medicine fellows (ACGME). This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
This position with the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, is responsible for addiction treatment and education services within the Medical College of Georgia and WMCG. The department features a SAMSHA funded addiction medicine fellowship program accredited by ACGME. Duties include classroom instruction of addiction medicine fellows, psychiatry residents and medical students and clinical supervision of psychiatry residents and addiction medicine fellows. The position is responsible for supervision of a substance abuse outpatient treatment program as well as clinics for buprenorphine, naltrexone and esketamine administration. Additional duties include direct patient care in an outpatient clinic setting and providing addiction medicine consultations on inpatient medical services and in the hospital emergency department.
The position requires taking general psychiatry call, including one weekend per quarter, one holiday per year. Weekend and holiday calls involve conducting general psychiatry rounds in the WMCG BHU and on WMCG medical floors for patients being followed by the department's Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Service.
Ultimately, the faculty member will

• operate in clinics four days per week with or without learners present
• round in the hospital with or without learners present

Required Qualifications
MD, DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Active license to practice in the state of Georgia.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
