City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.

With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature seventy-three inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This is not standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.

A Nurse Manager of Education in a hospital settingoverseas all aspects of nursing education, ensuring the development and implementation of effective educational programs for both patients and staff.This includes managing staff, resources, and budget, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a culture of continuous learning Be a positive leader with excellent people skills and nurturing of human resources. Encourage open and positive communication as an advocate for COH, the staff and our patients; collaborate with both internal and external customers to meet our strategic goals. Be a change agent and encourage staff to welcome change. Monitor and control resources (human and material), provide excellent customer service. Encourage higher learning/ professional development in staff. Assures professional and regulatory standards are met and maintained.

In this full-time, Monday – Friday positon.

As a successful candidate, you will:

· Manage the nursing education department, including staff, budget, and resources as it supports both hospital and ambulatory oversight.

· Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., The joint Commission and Magnet) and maintain high standards of educational practice.

· Develop and fosters collaborative relationships with other departments to support safe and high-quality education and needs.

· Assure regulatory standards are met.

· Measure performance of staff to meet regulatory and patient care standards.

· Report results of ongoing quality metrics as appropriate and develop corrective action plans in collaboration with the nursing director. Promote the utilization of evidence-based practice in delivery of patient care.

· Support and facilitate critical thinking of staff.

· Participates in development of annual budget for assigned department(s).

· Monitor budget variances on a periodic basis and submit justifications as indicated.

· Collaborate with others to identify capital equipment and projects needs on an annual basis.

· Develop, maintain, and justify staffing plan with ongoing reviews for revisions for submission for approval.

· Submits required documents for purchasing equipment, supplies, and repairs.

· Collaborates with others in the development of Return on Investment (ROI) for new programs or services.

· Advance goals that support the strategic plan for the organization.

· Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for patients, families, and staff. Support departmental implementation of new technology, services, and ongoing improvement.

· Effectively communicate (written & oral) across the organization.

· Collaborate with other departments, medical providers, and patient care teams to ensure effective communication and shared learning goals.

· Develop and implement educational programs to improve staff competence and skills, such as new hire orientation, continuing education, and competency assessments

· Assure staff have current licenses, certifications and are competent to provide care.

· Effectively communicate (written & oral) across the organization.

· Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in nursing education and demonstrated success in the ability to lead educational initiatives and demonstrated progressive leadership growth.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association
  • National Certification (must be acquired within 12 months of hire or transfer)

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $63.20 - $105.54 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
