College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
Under the Supervision of the Grant Program Manager, the incumbent is responsible for administrative pre-award and/or post-award activities relating to assigned grant and contract proposals and awards within the Georgia Cancer Center.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Pre Award Administration:
Executes pre-award administrative activities including reading proposal guidelines; collecting, composing, and/or preparing administrative components of proposal submissions; preparing applications, performing funding searches, etc.
Serves as primary contact with internal and external agencies at the Federal, State and local level in the management of the Cancer Center Grants Administration/ Program.
Key member in the creation of policies and new contract /grant work procedures for Cancer Center
employees, disseminating information to faculty and staff, audit activities and the training of external personnel on grant work processes.
Develop and prepare budgets and monitor regulatory compliance requirements.
Prepare, develop and ensure timely and accurate submission of competitive and non-competitive proposals and renewals to University Research Administration.
Confirms all applications meet agency and University guidelines, published timetables, and deadlines.
Responsible for budget amendments, modifications, restrictions of spending and/ or reallocation of funds.
Attend special meetings, symposiums and conferences regarding Contract and Grant regulations/ updates in support of institution and departmental goals.
Financial Support and Coordination:
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), a proactive approach to work, high attention to detail, and outstanding organizational skills are requirements.
Must understand and implement all Federal, state, institutional, and sponsor policies regarding financial and administrative activities.
Administer processes for the general operations for the Center; facilitating and supporting management of Center administrative and grant accounts; assist in managing the coordination of services to projects housed in the Center.
Facilitate interactions among a diverse group of faculty, students, and administrators to ensure fiscal and regulatory compliance for grant applications and awards. Interacts with University Research Administration, Faculty, Department Pre-Award Staff, Department Human Resources, Pre/Post Award staff in other departments, and Financial Services Office personnel.
Post Award Administration:
Completes post-award activities to include account creation, regulatory compliance monitoring, salary allocations and effort reporting, cost transfers, summer salary processing, grant projections, grant closing processes and account closing.
Responsible for the preparation of monthly reports and summaries to the Principal Investigator (PI) via grant projections and responds to questions from PIs regarding non-salary spending, agency guidelines, etc.
Responsible for tracking and reconciling non-personnel expenditures. requirements.
Assist in all other post-award activities including account creation, salary allocations, and grant closing processes and account closing. Responsible for coordinating and ensuring completion of annual, final, and ad hoc financial requirements, keeping the PI informed of progress.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or related field with two years of experience in business, finance, accounting or other related field.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: B9
Salary Range: $48,800/annually - $61,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
