Job Description

Summary

The Department of Medicine - Cardiology section at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a reliable Scheduling Specialist II who thrives in a fast-paced ambulatory care setting and has experience scheduling patient tests.

The primary duties are booking, coordinating and re-scheduling non-invasive test appointments, answering the telephone, MyChart messages, and recording information on the patient electronic chart using EPIC.

The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

Job Duties

  • Schedules tests at McNair Cardiology (Echo, Stress test, Nuclear test, ECG, Holter monitor).
  • Schedules tests at BSLMC (as needed).
  • Calls patients to remind them about their appointments for tests.
  • Informs patients about their arrival time, instructions, and documents them in EPIC.
  • Works on the pending order WQs, and diagnostic pools.
  • Contacts the ordering physicians if the order needs to be corrected.
  • Files the last minute requests with IV team, follows up with them, and informs patients about their possible out of pocket balance on those tests.
  • Registers patients in EPIC system as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with EPIC and working in Cardiology.
  • Some insurance verification experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with professionalism at all times.

Work Authorization Requirement:
