Job Description

Summary

Psychology Doctoral Internship is the final year of a PhD student's program. The Division of Psychology within Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine offers an APA-accredited internship to doctoral students in psychology – the Texas Children’s Hospital Psychology Internship. The internship is an intensive clinical training year wherein interns use this final phase of their formal doctoral training to develop broad and general professional competencies with an emphasis in pediatric / child populations. The model of training employed is predominantly experiential with supporting didactics and supervision. Experiential training is provided through participation in a variety of clinical rotations including outpatient, inpatient, and consultation services. Psychology Doctoral Intern must submit their application through the APPIC Online Service and participate in the national match.

Job Duties

  • Diagnostic interviewing.
  • Assessment/evaluation.
  • Consultation/coordination of care.
  • Psychological intervention/therapy.
  • Participation in clinical supervision and training program didactics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a psychology-related field doctoral program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral graduate students in clinical, counseling, and school psychology are considered for admission.
  • Completion of at least three years of graduate coursework at an APA-accredited doctoral training program as well as completion of dissertation proposal defense and initiation of data collection at the time of internship application submission.

Work Authorization Requirement:

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
