Summary

The Pharmacist supports clinical research protocols by managing investigational products (IP) and ensuring compliance with regulatory, institutional, and sponsor requirements. This role is responsible for the receipt, storage, preparation, dispensation, and accountability of study medications in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable regulations. The Pharmacist works closely with investigators, study teams, and sponsors to ensure safe and accurate handling of investigational products. This is a part-time (0.20 FTE) position supporting ongoing research activities.

This position will support a high-volume clinical research environment involving multiple concurrent protocols and investigational products. Work within a specialized research pharmacy setting supporting vaccine and infectious disease clinical trials, and collaborate within multidisciplinary study teams in a fast-paced research environment.

Job Duties

  • Performs study-related pharmacy activities under the direction of the Principal Investigator, ensuring adherence to protocol requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory standards.
  • Manages investigational products (IP) across the full lifecycle, including ordering, receipt, storage, inventory, preparation, dispensing, monitoring storage conditions, and disposal in accordance with sponsor and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and audit-ready documentation of investigational product accountability, pharmacy binders, and study records, ensuring compliance with institutional, sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures proper handling, preparation, and dispensing of investigational products, including maintaining required environmental controls and adherence to applicable standards (e.g., USP <797> when applicable).
  • Collaborates with investigators, study teams, sponsors, monitors, and regulatory agencies to support study execution, including participation in study trainings and monitoring visits.
  • Manages protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Current licensure from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research pharmacy experience.
  • Sterile compounding experience.
